Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry is an area of dentistry with a focus on enhancing the aesthetics of the mouth, teeth and smile. Even though these types of treatments are normally elective, some of them also offer restorative benefits. If you would like to enhance the appearance of your smile with a cosmetic dentistry procedure, Aesthetic Dental Center of Bergen County is ready to help.

Dental Veneers

Dental veneers are basically a very thin shell that is attached to the teeth using a special adhesive. This is a great treatment for anyone dealing with crooked teeth, or teeth that have been damaged or cracked. It also corrects gaps between teeth.

The most popular material used in dental veneers is porcelain. It is very popular due to its superior stain resistant properties and solid durability. Some people choose to receive porcelain veneers simply to have bright white teeth that do not stain.

Porcelain Dental Crowns

Porcelain makes a superior construction material for dental crowns because of its strength, durability and stain resistance. The color of porcelain also closely resembles that of natural teeth, and all-ceramic substructures ensure an esthetic result. The substructure for dental crowns could also be made of metal or more cosmetic tooth-colored zirconium. Dental crowns are used to provide protection and restoration, restore correct shape, size and strength, and enhance general appearance.

Inlays and Onlays

Another name for these is indirect fillings. Inlays and onlays are constructed in a lab for use whenever a tooth has mild decay or there is insufficient structure for a tooth to support a filling. Assuming the tooth cusps are not damaged, we place the inlay right onto the surface of the tooth. In cases where a tooth cusp is damaged, we use an onlay instead to cover the entire surface of the tooth.

The material that inlays and onlays are constructed from is known as porcelain ceramic, which we attach to the teeth using a special type of dental cement. Inlays and onlays offer support which strengthens teeth, restoring their shape and avoiding additional deterioration or decay.

Composite Bonding

When we refer to composite bonding, we are talking about repairing teeth that are damaged, decayed or discolored. We use a special material that closely matches the color of natural teeth. We then remove any tooth decay and then apply the composite onto the surface of the tooth, sculpting it to have the desired shape prior to curing it using a special light.

This procedure is sometimes known simply as "bonding," and helps to cover tooth damage and provide the aesthetic appearance of a normal tooth. Bonding is quite popular due to it being inexpensive and effective for any patient dealing with tooth decay or cracked or chipped teeth.

Teeth Bleaching

Teeth bleaching is one of the simplest and most basic types of cosmetic dentistry treatments. This is a quick treatment that takes place in our office. Patients often find that their teeth become stained over the years due to the consumption of beverages like tea, coffee and red wine. Smokers also tend to have stained teeth.

A teeth bleaching treatment can only take place after plaque and tartar have been removed from the teeth. You can have teeth that are bleached to a whiteness beyond the natural color of your teeth.

Some teeth bleaching products and kits that are available over-the-counter can lighten the shade of teeth a bit, they are no substitute for a professional teeth whitening treatment at your dentist office.

Dental Implants

Dental implants fall into that category that is a mixture of both cosmetic and functional dentistry. These are implants placed within the jawbone and capped with a dental crown. This is a great, long-lasting solution to missing teeth.

The cosmetic part of dental implants is that they appear just like natural teeth. They are also a superior solution to missing teeth, beyond even that of dental bridges. This is because bridges eventually compromise the health of surrounding teeth that must bear the full impact of chewing force. In contrast, implants function just like natural teeth to absorb this force without spreading it around to surrounding teeth.

I was seen a little earlier than my scheduled appointment so that was a plus. The dental office was immaculate! My tooth extraction was done in less than 5 minutes. I didn’t even realize it was out until he said ok all done!! Absolutely no pain, no pressure! The oral surgeon was brilliant! I’ll highly recommend this a million times!!

I chipped my tooth and needed a new sentient. I called the Ridgefield park office and spoke to a very friendly, professional receptionist and was able to get an appointment soon. The dentist did a beautiful job with my tooth. I would recommend this place 💯

Dr. Jennie Lee was very patient and so good with my 4-yr-old son. He was at ease and sat through the whole filling treatment without any difficulty. They were very accommodating to his needs and didn't give him any unnecessary treatment just to take your money. Highly recommend!! Staff is friendly as well.
